VP Buildings

Breaking down the VP buildings performance:

  • Fairgrounds - max points 366 (6 initially, + 6*6*10) - 366 resources - 1/1 ratio - best
  • Town Plaza - max points 610 (10 initially, + 10*6*10) - 666 resources - 0.92/1 ratio
  • Festival Hall - max points 854 (14 initially, + 14*6*10) - 1220 resources - 0.7/1 ratio
  • Tavern/Weaver - max points 427 (7 initially, + 7*6*10) - 666 resources - 0.64/1 ratio
  • Community Centre - max points 197 (2 initially + 2*6*10 + 75 bonus) - 666 resources - 0.3/1 ratio.
  • Archive - max points 303 (3 initially + 3*6*10 + 120 bonus) - 1220 resources - 0.25/1 ratio - worst.

What is the thinking behind this? I would expect Tier 2 and 3 buildings to perform better, not worse.

I think there is difference depending which resources are common on your area during a season. It’s more advantageous to build those that use your common resources.

Also, your calculations have some errors I think. You don’t get that much VP.

I have updated the calculations as it was pointed out the bonus is not on build, but on level up. Much less points, but Fairgrounds still a bit ahead.

    Fairgrounds - max points 106 (6 initially, + 5*10 + 5*10 bonus) - 366 resources - 0.29/1 ratio - still best

    Town Plaza - max points 190 (10 initially, + 10*10 + 8*10 bonus) - 666 resources - 0.29/1 ratio

    Community Centre - max points 177 (2 initially + 10*10 + 75 bonus) - 666 resources - 0.27/1 ratio.

    Tavern/Weaver - max points 157 (7 initially, + 10*10 + 5*10 bonus) - 666 resources - 0.24/1 ratio

    Festival Hall - max points 274 (14 initially, + 15*10 + 11*10 bonus) - 1220 resources - 0.22/1 ratio

    Archive - max points 273 (3 initially + 15*10 + 120 bonus) - 1220 resources - 0.22/1 ratio - worst.

Community Centre is best at 3.43 Resource Cards per Victory Point.

RC/VP (Tavern is all 3 similar Tier 2):

    Fairgrounds 3.88

    Tavern 3.97

    Community Centre 3.43

    Archive 4.16

    Festival Hall 4.84

    Monument 4.15

    VP/RC:

    Fairgrounds 0.26

    Tavern 0.25

    Community Centre 0.29

    Archive 0.24

    Festival Hall 0.21

    Monument 0.24

Tier 3 buildings are slightly worse, but give more VP overall. The monument is unique (apart from. Fabled Buildings) in that it supplies VP and resources.

The Community Centre and the Archive need to be completed to be of most benefit. The monument gives only an additional 5% or so on each of half and completion, although obviously the marginal benefit is still large.

I can't fathom why your Town Plaza is not calculated the same as the Weaver and Tavern. They are all 3 the same, just require different resources. Edit: OK, the 'temporary' boost to the Town Plaza is still on it. That may make it the best for the moment. Other 'temporary' boosts (Fairgrounds?) may still be in force though.

In my settlement plans I aim to build them all anyway.

Absolute RC/VP (or the inverse) are relevant only if you totally complete all your building upgrades. Which is not the case for me at least…

Settlements around my location might get relevant upgrades, but all the rest – settlements I pass by only once/few times during a season, remote settlements visited by totem – have other considerations coming into play… So each VP building giving bonus VP at each level are most interesting: build only one each, get most of the VP.

And as @AjanHukka mentioned: most interesting is the VP building corresponding best to your RC surplus.

But for the Lvl3 VP buildings I agree, they feel a bit underpowered… as you have also to upgrade your settlement. I tend to place them only in the closest settlements – as they get the Lvl3 upgrade anyway for the rather powerful Lvl3 production buildings.

If there'll be more settlement tiers soon™, the problem might get even a bit worse…
